Knife Care Guide – FFR Cutlery Knives

Our Damascus steel knives are built for performance, sharpness, and style. Their high carbon content ensures a long-lasting edge, but it also means they require a little extra care to prevent rust and maintain their beauty.

Daily Cleaning

  • Always hand wash your knife using warm water and mild dish soap.

  • Do not put your knife in a dishwasher.

  • Dry it immediately using a clean towel to prevent moisture exposure.

Oiling Your Blade

After drying:

  • Apply a light coat of mineral oil (recommended: food-safe and long-lasting).

  • You can use any cooking oil for short-term protection, but avoid it for long storage, as it may spoil over time.

Rust? No Problem!

If rust appears:

  • Wipe the blade with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

  • Then wash with warm soapy water, dry it by hand, and oil it as usual

  • Don’t panic — a natural patina will develop over time, offering additional protection

Damascus steel may need more care than average kitchen knives, but the superior performance and craftsmanship make it absolutely worth it.

Quick Knife Care Tips

  • Wash by hand in warm, soapy water and dry immediately

  • Oil the blade before storing — mineral oil is best

  • Use vinegar or lemon juice to remove rust

  • Avoid long-term leather storage — leather can trap moisture
→ If you must use a leather roll, apply a heavy coat of oil before storing
